8th Grade Farm Tour

We have partnered with Henderson County Extension Office to be apart of the annual 8th Grade Farm Tour! This will help expose local 8th graders to all the different careers that agriculture brings to a local community and how important each and every person is who works there.
At the research station in Mills River, the students saw research labs and experimental plots and met the scientists who generate the information disseminated through agriculture agents at the Extension Office. At North River Farms, students toured the farm, learned about water quality beside the North Fork of Mills River and picked vegetables to be donated to local shelters. The goal of the program is for students to learn that there are exciting careers in agriculture in Henderson County as well as where their food comes from
